Cuban-American Jason Miyares won the elections as First Attorney General of the state of Virginia. The politician becomes the first Cuban-American to be a prosecutor in that city.
“I am here today, as Attorney General, as the first child of an immigrant and the first Latino in the entire state to win an election,” said Jason Miyares.
The Cuban also remembered when his mother left the island looking for a better future for her family
“56 years ago my mother left Cuba with nothing, only with a dream, the dream of giving her family a better life,” he said.
The Cuban-American thanked his mother for training him in that country and said he feels honored to have been chosen in such an important position in the city of Virginia.
