Armando Valladares

1984

Writer and poet who spent 22 years in political prison in Cuba. He was named Prisoner of Conscience by Amnesty International. He went on to become U.S. Ambassador for Human Rights in Geneva in the Reagan Administration. His books, including Against All Hope, have been translated into 23 languages.
