Ernesto Lecuona

1984

This most important modern-day Cuban pianist and composer received FACE’s recognition posthumously. Among his more than 600 compositions Americans are familiar with “Siboney” and “Malagueña” but he was also a favorite composer of film scores being referred to as “the Gershwin of Cuba.” In 1960 he went into exile a few months after the Castro takeover.
