The Hon. Claude Pepper

1987

Claude Pepper was a U.S. Senator from Florida 1936-1951, and a U.S. Representative in Congress 1963-1989. Although considered a far-left politician in 1962, Pepper won election to a newly created district in the U.S. House of Representatives emerging as a staunch anti-communist. He identified with the Cuban exile community becoming a welcomed vote for their cause in Washington, D.C.
