01 Jan Zoilo “Zorro” Versalles (1939-1995)

Zoilo “Zorro” Versalles signed with the Washington Senators (later Minnesota Twins) & was an All-Star in 1963. In 1965 he was 1st Latin MVP as the Twins won their 1st world series. As a lead-off hitter his .273 batting average doesn’t do justice to his clutch hitting & skill to stretch a hit. He led the league in 1965 with 45 doubles, 12 triples & 126 runs scored to go with 19 homers & 77 RBIs. In 2006 he was elected to the Twins Hall of Fame.
