20 Nov Mario Chanes de Armas, (1927-2007)
Mario Chanes de Armas was a veteran of the assault on the Moncada Barracks and invader aboard the yacht Granma against Batista, only to be imprisoned by Castro in 1960. After the first days of the revolution he realized Castro’s betrayal of democracy. He is one of the original plantados, an immovable who never wore the uniform of common prisoners during his 30-year ordeal.
