Gus Machado, founder & owner of Gus Machado Ford came to the U.S. from Cuba in 1949 to study in North Carolina’s Edwards Military Institute & Greenville College, then going to work for the Caterpillar Tractor Co. arriving in Miami in 1956, where, with limited funds, he invested in a small gas station. This ambitious first step paved the way for the young entrepreneur to become a household name in Miami. In 2003, with a group  formed the U.S. Cuba Democracy PAC, a bi-partisan political action committee to promote an unconditional transition in Cuba to multiparty democracy.
