28 Dec Guillermo Cabrera Infante “Cain”

In 1950s he was film critic for Carteles in Havana and in 1959 directed Instituto del Cine and Lunes de Revolución, a supplement to Communist newspaper Revolución, later prohibited by Castro. In 1965 he went into exile in London becoming an implacable enemy of the dictator. Best known for the novel Tres Tristes Tigres (Three Trapped Tigers) compared favorably to James Joyce’s Ulysses as well as for La Habana para un Infante Difunto and Mea Cuba. He wrote the screenplay for the film Lost City directed by Andy García.
