José Raúl Capablanca (1888-1942) was a Cuban child prodigy renowned for his exceptional endgame skills & speed of play. Undefeated 1916-1924 he beat Emanuel Lasker. Bobby Fishcer described him as possessing a “real light touch.” He wrote chess books such as Chess Fundamentals & was influential in the play of future champions Fischer & Karpov.
